As I had expected, I got many of these wrong. I had taken this quiz last year, but I could not remember how they were sorted. My total correct was 4, with 2 Asians, 1 Native American, and 1 Black correct. This quiz really shows us how we can not base some one's race on what they look like and that skin color is not a paired to other genes that appear to make up that race, including eye shape, hair color, or anything else.

If race isn't based on skin color or any other combination of genetic traits, what is it based on?
ReplyDeleteIf race was to be used to categorize people, then I think that it should be based more on a person's heritage rather than what they appear to look like.
ReplyDeleteCorrect. But we can go further -- it's not a case of "it should be". It's a case of educated people understanding that it IS -- and that any other view is one grounded in ignorance.
